ENLIGHTENMENT

Humanity has experienced countless eras since the time when the first humans were drawing on cave walls 40,000 years ago to the space age. After the Iron and Bronze ages, came the agricultural civilizations followed by the city-states and the Sumerians, Egyptians, Assyrians, Romans, Hittites, Eastern Rome, the Byzantines, Seljuk’s, and the Arab cultures, which continue to impact people today. In addition, Anglo-Saxon culture, German and Catalan cultures in the West and America’s own unique culture has made and continues to wield significant influence. The impact of these ancient and modern cultures excites me. In my opinion, the impact made by these cultures creates a sort of enlightenment for humanity and their mission is to transfer wisdom to people today. I view these stages and influences experienced by humanity as ‘Enlightenment’ and I convey this in my photographs by using the light of the color white.
